How Floating Cities Could Save our Civilization

The United Nations estimates that, by 2035, there will be more the one billion refugees because of climate change. Marc Collins, a former Minister of the Government of French Polynesia, believes that, if we are to survive, we must turn to the ocean. Here, he outlines his work to create the first floating habitat that can support 10,000 people and is entirely autonomous in terms of energy, water, and waste recycling.

Marc Collins Chen is a co-Founder and CEO of OCEANIX, a company that’s supported by the UN-Habitat’s New Urban Agenda and dedicated to creating floating cities that are zero-waste, energy-positive, and self-sustaining.
